Twenty Two Dogs In A Car

Twenty Two dogs, which included two puppies, were found by authorities in Pottsboro, TX crammed inside of a station wagon. The owner of the vehicle had locked the doors and then had refused to come out when authorities were attempting to authorize the seizing of the dogs.

The dogs have been removed from the car and taken to a shelter. They will remain there until there is a custody hearing for their ownership on February 16th. The only things in the car besides the dogs were blankets, a pot of water, and plenty of waste.

A supervisor for the SPCA, Courtney Stevens said the station wagon was "soaked with urine and covered in feces; the ammonia level in the vehicle was 23 parts per million even after the doors had been opened for several minutes." This is bad considering humans can exerience health problems at 12 parts per million.

The owner has yet to be identified, and there are no official charges yet as she was not coherent at the time that authorities confronted her.
